The inspiration

From the book of Isaiah 41

17 When the poor and needy seek water,  and there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst, I the Lord will answer them; I the God of Israel will not forsake them. 18 I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys.

This picture in Isaiah 41 is of a people that are lacking water so much that they are “parched with thirst”. They aren’t just thirsty, they are dying because of it.

This picture of the dry-ness of life is what I have experienced. I have found that through pursuing the things of life (not immoral or questionable things, the good things) that I become “parched”. I work, eat and sleep. This cycle continues day-in-day-out until I am empty. I become weary and exhausted. I become parched and thirsty.

This is a picture of humanity. We are the thirsty.

Part 1 Thirst

Released monthly in 2023

Through life I have sought “water”. So I drink (quite literally in some seasons) to try to quench this thirst I have.

I seek for things that bring me satisfaction. Although they bring a temporary quenching, they never fill the thirst I have. It’s always there. I work more, I make more, I have more, I thirst more so I search more.

Part 2 Search

Released monthly in 2024

Searching for water only concludes that there is no earthly thing that can quench my human needs.

I find myself on bare heights where there is no water.

Part 3 Bare Heights

Released monthly in 2025

However, there is a place where water flows with an unstoppable passion.

“I, the Lord…the God of Israel” who “open[s] rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys.”

With a miraculous tone, he pours water out of places that are dry and barren. He takes what is suppose to be dry (by all natural rules) and supplies life-giving water.

Not just cups or drips of water that need to be refilled; He opens up rivers and fountains. There is no stopping the flow of these water formations. They flow year-round through every season. Nothing can stop them.

Conclusion

This picture is what I have found to be true. Nothing refills my empty, bare, and scorched places like the unstoppable living water that is from Christ Jesus. He refills over and over.

This project is for you who are thirsty. As Jesus said to us…

“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way, just as the Scripture says.” John 7:37 MSG
